On Art:

God is the Author of Life. Each one of us is one of his stories and our biggest blessing is to be able to share, experience, affect, and witness the pages of ours and others’ lives unfolding everyday. We do so through language and communication. Some of this communication is verbal, and much more is nonverbal. Even a single line or note can express a great depth of emotion and meaning. This different plane of communication is the purpose of art – any art. As an artist and sculptor, I am simply a storyteller. I bear witness and observe my story and the stories of those around me, and in turn, relate various ideas, dreams, aspirations, fantasies, emotions, experiences, and perceptions. Some may be direct and easy for everyone to understand in the same or similar ways, while others may be experienced with vastly different interpretations by the viewer. I am not bothered by this, because I discovered long ago that everyone views the world through their own individual lens, tinted by their own life experience and perspective. What you see as the color red may be blue to another. Their whole understanding of vocabulary was built around their own experience, so neither you nor the other can ever know for sure if you both see things the same way. Only the Father of Light himself knows the wavelengths you perceive and the way in which you perceive them. I am looking forward to one day seeing all of the colors I cannot see in this world. Until then, I will appreciate all of the beauty that I CAN witness now. As individual beings, our stories may be comedies, adventures, tragedies, or some combination, all unique. Different as they may be, all of these stories have meaning, purpose, and beauty.

On Life:

When asked which commandment was the greatest, Jesus answered “Love the Lord your God with all your Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark12:29-31) Therefore, this is my philosophy. …And they will know that we are Christians by our Love.
